Just before our last outing, we all attended mass together at St. Joes. Mark Apel was recognized as Denner for the month. Fr. Fred recognized our group to the congregation, and 4 of the boys (Mark, Max, Ben, and Nicholas) carried the gifts to the alter.
After church, we went to Ardenwood farm to meet the 1G Tiger requirement on seeing a historical site to discover how life was both the same and different many years ago.
To no ones surprise, the boys especially like the pigs. After all, what 5-7 year old boy doesn’t like smelly animals rolling in the mud while making funny noises?
The other (and real) highlight of the trip was the visit to the old farmhouse. It’s furnished as it was in Victorian times. We got to a private, scouts only tour.
We concluded the tour with a ride on the historic train, including each boy getting a ride on the hand cart! Great fun.
All the boys received recognition items – patches for the Coyote Hills hike, a bead for the photo albums they put together at the last meeting, and a bead for the historical site visit.
Cheers!
